Soprano Kristina Shafranski debuts in Mexico as Micaëla in Bizet’s Carmen with

International Summer Opera Festival of Morelia.

Kristina Shafranski is a Ukrainian American soprano born and raised on Long Island, New York. Kristina fell in love with opera in the roles of Gabrielle from La Vie Parisienne (2016) and Lucy from The Beggar’s Opera (2017) at Hofstra University, where she received her Bachelor of Science in Music. Kristina continued her music education and holds a Master of Music in Voice Performance from Roosevelt University’s Chicago College of Performing Arts.

This season, Kristina Shafranski performed in Vincerò Academy’s Opera Gala at Carnegie Hall, debuted in Morelia, Mexico as Micaela in Bizet’s Carmen with International Opera Summer Festival of Morelia, and returned to Oyster Bay Music Festival to sing opera scenes in local and historical venues around Long Island, New York.

Previously, Kristina Shafranski was featured in Opera Gala concerts and was the selected Soprano Soloist cover in Verdi’s Requiem with Varna International under the baton of Gregory Buchalter. Kristina was also chosen as Eurasia Festival’s 2022 Emerging Artist. Kristina has performed with the Northwinds Symphonic Band, Light Opera of New Jersey, and Long Island Opera Theater. In 2021, Kristina was a lead in the European premier of Pietà by Jake Landau with Narnia Festival in Narni, Italy. In 2019, Kristina traveled to Kyiv, Ukraine where she performed opera scenes with the National Presidential Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine on the Bouquet Kyiv Stage.

Kristina’s noteable awards include Finalist in the National Opera Association’s 2019 Scholarship Division, and first-place with the Festival of Song USA 2015 where she performed in Sicily, Italy for the Cantamare Festival.
